阳光灿烂大象班是幼小衔接班,我们的目标是帮助孩子们更有准备的迎接小学生活.在这一年里,我们在课堂上会学习义务教育所需要的课堂技能。最重要的技能是能够在课堂上认真听讲并以正确的方式回答问题。这对于孩子来说是一种挑战,因为他们天生的渴望交流,当老师在说话时他们喜欢想马上分享他们的意见和想法，而不是等待发言。希望在这一年学习后，我们将看到我们大象班的孩子们在这方面会有一个很大的进步。
今年在大象班课堂上，我们会提供一些美丽的书法，在语言学习方面，我们的目标是，让孩子们书写英文字母更加好看。大多数的孩子还是会使用到蒙特梭利教具继续进一步的学习阅读和语法。我们还强调逻辑与数学的发展。他们还将会学习和掌握十进制，这是非常重要的，我们还开始练习做数字0-20之间的加法和减法运算，因为他们将来的数学工作都依赖于它们。在蒙特梭利课堂上，他们有机会根据自己个人的兴趣去充分发展他们的能力。
我们秋季的主题是：《返校》、《动物》、《秋天和万圣节》. 在学习《秋天和万圣节》的主题中，大象班的孩子们学习到了叶子的组成部分和不同种类的叶子，在学习中我们还发现线性叶可以做口哨。每一期的主题不仅可以学习到新的词汇和语法，而且还可以做有趣的游戏和手工工作。下一学期，我们将开始学习人体是如何工作的，以及天气为什么会不断的变化。
Sunshine Home’s Elephant classroom aims to prepare children for the Chinese public school system. During this year we will practice all the necessary classroom skills that are needed to begin the compulsory education. The most important skills are to be able to listen to the teacher during lessons and respond to questions in an appropriate manner. This is challenging for children. Their natural eagerness to communicate causes them to talk while the teacher is speaking. They want to share their ideas and thoughts right away instead of waiting for their turn to speak. Hopefully after this academic year we will see great development with our Elephant students in this area.
Our aim in the language area is that after this year our Elephant classroom students can provide beautiful examples of penmanship with their written work of the English alphabet. Most of them naturally will continue further with reading and grammar work using the Montessori materials. We also emphasize the development of logic with math work. It is extremely important that they have a solid understanding of the decimal system. All future math work relies on this. We are practicing addition and subtraction between 0-20 on an abstract level. In the Montessori classroom they have plenty of opportunity to go further according to their personal interests and ability.
This autumn began with the themes Back to School, Animals, and Fall and Halloween. The Fall and Halloween theme provided excellent opportunity for the Elephant students to go through the parts of a leaf and different types of leaves. We found out that the linear leaves can be used as a whistle. Theme work provides not only vocabulary and grammar work but also interesting games and craft work. Next term we will begin to investigate how the human body works, as well as why our weather keeps changing.
